Our human world is so poignant because it is really so tenuous. We can fall in love and we can fall out of love. We can appreciate beauty and art and feel compassion and sympathy for others, but there’s also a lot of attachment. We grasp at things because we are often driven by hope and fear. In Dharma practice, we learn to cultivate compassion and openness and also let go of attachment — not so easy to accomplish.
