Meditation Is Not Heavy Lifting

To use the analogy of weight training, we might think that meditation is like heavy lifting, that stabilizing our awareness is like lifting a 500 pound weight and holding it up with intense exertion.

In reality, our practice is more like lifting a lighter weight with many reps.

Whenever we notice that we are not where we are, not with our breath, not with what we are doing, we simply come back and then let go.
