The ground of meditation practice is the same as in yoga — ahimsa — non-violence, non-aggression. We start with an open-hearted and gentle attitude.
If we are filled with ambition and aggression, there’s not much space. But if we take a friendly attitude toward ourselves, as if towards another person, then we can explore and say “How are you? What’s going on? What’s your life like? What problems are you facing?”
