In Buddhism there are both peaceful and wrathful expressions of compassion.
Sometimes true compassion can express itself as a powerful “NO” – saying no to activities that are harmful to oneself and harmful to others.
Often this kind of expression cuts against the grain of deep habitual patterns and maintaining our comfort zone, but it is also free from aggression and manipulation.
